The registry for the Macao domain name is operated by the Macao Network Information Center (MONIC). Operated by the University of Macau since 1992, MONIC administrates the registration of the country-code domain names ccTLD). Effective from 12 March, 2011, HNET Asia Limited, appointed by the Macao SAR, will be responsible for the management and registration of the “.MO”, the domain name of the Macao SAR. The contract will be ended at 28 February, 2014.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants who apply for registration of domain names of Macao SAR must fulfill the following conditions:
1. Applications for domain name registration in the name of individuals will not be accepted. The applicant must be businesses or other organizations that are registered in Macao according to Macao’s law and regulations and can bear independently civil responsibilities; Those who already registered their trademark / service mark / patent can also apply for domain name.
2. The applicant must ensure, to their best of ability that the primary domain name server supporting the operation of the domain name will function continuously; they must appoint an administrative representative and a technical representative, who are responsible for the administration of the domain name and the operation of the domain name server, respectively.
3. Except holders of short term domain names, local entities that have registered a third level domain name, that is, a domain name under the second level domain name (such as “.com.mo”, “.edu.mo”, “.org.mo”, “.net.mo” and “.gov.mo”), are eligible to apply for the same domain name under “.mo”.
Required Documentary Proof for Domain Name Registration
In addition to domain name registration form, declaration of agreement and cheque / bank draft, applicant needs to provide the organization's registration certificate or the below-mentioned documentary proof according to different domain name categories. Details are as below:

Applicants who apply for "net.mo" domain name or the associated ".mo" domain name | 1. Copy of institution registration certificate (within 1 year validity) issued by the related Maco Government department (Please refer to the above required documents (1 - 5) of .com.mo application; and 2. Copy of License for Provision of Internet Service or License for Provision of Telecommunication Service or other authorization documents from the Macao Government.

The official registration fee for each domain name is MOP200 / HKD200 / USD25, the renewal fee of the domain name is the same with the registration fee.
